Replacing tweeter in old Advent speaker?

Do I have to replace the crossover if I replace the exsisting tweeter with a "softdome tweeter"?

The tweeters were always going on these beasts. I used to put a inline fuse to the speaker input. I can't remember the amp rating though. Most likely a 1 or 2 amp.
