Replacing AC cable on older amps and pre amps (Non IEC)

Has anyone ever upgraded power cables in an older amp to get a better AC connection?

Probably a really dumb question but can you purchase something inexpensive like a Pangea AC-14 and clip the IEC end off and install it into a high end (but vintage) non-IEC amplifier or pre amp without causing problems?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@wolf_garcia I was amazed at the improvement I got on my preamp by the switch to this over the supplied cord. Beats me why manufacturer doesn't supply it with these.

@wolf_garcia If you select the 10 gauge variant, the price goes up!

OP. Just make sure the new cable isn’t too thick for the small hole of older amps.
And make sure it is:
1. Not solid core.
2. Mains rated.
3. Grounded

Sure you can. As long as you know what you are doing and make sound, tidy and safe connections. I have found these to be much better than Pangea.
