Repair tech for Linn LP 12?

The lingos benefit from a re capping due to age.

Generally, the pansonic FC and FM capacitors work well when it comes to restoring function to a lingo. Most quality low impedance high quality long life capacitors from other brands will work just as well (Nichicon, United chemi-con, rubycon, etc), but I’ve successfully reanimated 3-4 lingos that way which was also the recommendation of one of the well known Linn experts in Canada.

Generally, nothing else is required. Just the electrolytic capacitors needing replacement.

If Gene Rubin is still in business, he was always the Linn go-to guy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m looking for someone to do the recapping. Gene Rubin is still going strong (I bought my Linn from him in the 1980s), but he is no longer a Linn dealer. Blackbird Audio appears to have closed permanently. I wound up taking the Lingo to Stan at Shelley’s Stereo in Woodland Hills. He recommended the Lingo 4 rather than a recap. That’s an expensive upgrade ($2K) just to play 45rpm.

re-capping the Lingo will probably do the trick but there are reference voltages that drift over time that should be checked as part of the service. I have the service manual somewhere it may also be online. any tech should be able to handle the recap and service. Neil "jadman" services Valhalla PS and offers Naim mods, he's in Cali  and may offer a Lingo service. neiljadman at gmail dot com
