Remote controlled pre-amp for gainclone?

Any recommendations for a 1-2 channel input, remote controlled preamp for an LM3875 gainclone? I don't think the Creek OHB will do it justice and not sure a simple volume pot will have adequate drive. I've considered Djangos TVC but no remote. Also the Pro-Ject Pre Box but may not be high quality sound.
Under $500 would be ideal, not over $1,000.
