using the high level inputs uses the higher voltage into a high impedance input circuit. Due to the high impedance, almost nothing taken away from the speaker output to feed the sub input. Its essentially 'free' with no downside. The amplifier you are tapping from will never know the difference between the straight speaker load and the very minor additional load imposed by the input circuitry in the subwoofers.
