Recommendations on hybrid amp, BHK300 monos?

I love my Soundlab ESL speakers, but it NEEDS power. I like tube amps but a well-known and regarded tube amp at 140W was definitely underpowered. Because I have a tiny room (9x 11ft), I don't monsters that generate a ton of heat. I was thinking that PS BHK 300 monos with tube input might be a nice compromise. I heard one negative comment that BHK 300s don't have clear highs--I suspect that it was based on the stock tubes. I would like to hear from BHK300 users on their experience.

Also, why are there so many used BHK300s on the market? Is there a problem?
