Recommendation for DAC needed.

The DAC3 sounds exactly like what I need.

There’s also the question, will any of the above be significantly better than my Gumby, aside from the fact that they will decode hi res files?

Reading the above, I’m now considering an  Auralic demo, the Benchmark or the Chord Qutest.
Anybody have any thoughts on these?

I have the Multibit.

The Yggdrasil doesn’t have hi res capability.

Based on my needs, and the price, if I do decide to pull the trigger, I will give the Benchmark DAC 3B a tryout.

Music Direct offers a 60 day return option.

Getting back to the topic at hand, with all the diversity of opinion here, I think genez is right.  I’ll ultimately have to decide for myself.
 I’m going to defer getting a new DAC right now, and buy a new streamer to replace my Chromecast Audio connection.

Thank you much for your kind words.  It’s always informative and a pleasure to speak with you.
 I’m hoping the Arcam streamer I’ve bought is going to improve things.  Actually, I’m finding Chromecast Audio not all that bad after all.  I don’t have a laptop to try out and using my desktop is not feasible, although I’ve heard a direct Ethernet connection is the best way to go.
