Received my Denafrips Venus 15th

It has been burning in for a week. I am very happy with my purchase. The bass is much more present and detailed than my previous Venus ii. The vocals are also improved. They have a much more 3D sound and are sitting out in space.

Congratulations on your new Venus 15th. I've had my Terminator 15th for about a month and I just love it. I came from a Venus II as well.  Keep burning it in it just keeps getting better. I got over 600 hours on mine now.

@brbrock  I've owned the Denafrips Venus II before the Terminator 15th for 3 years. My Legacy  Wavelet II also has an internal DAC. I have become accustomed to the R2R sound in comparison and prefer it. I wanted to take advantage of the clock sync feature between my Hermes that I had already mated to the Venus II via I2s before. The Terminator 15th was an easy choice and end game DAC for me. I now have it mated to the Hermes and the BNC Clock cables for the clock sync.

From what I can gather the Arcas has a better clock, but if you are using the clock sync between the Arce and the Venus 15th then it is taking advantage of the better OCXO clock in you Venus so most likely there would be no advantage of the higher priced Arcas. It looks like everything else is equal? Also it appears that you use 2 BNC  clock cables for 45 and 49 khz clock sync.

@zaxx40   There is a USA Dealer too, @Audioman58 in MA. I got my Terminator 15th from him.

@skasundr   The Iris is only useful if you only have a need to a single USB input. If you have more sources you want connected than the Hermes is the way to go. I use USB, Coaxial and AES/EBU connections.  Clock sync feature too.

@sealegs   It appears you ( like me) keep your gear for a long time. I would recommend you get the Venus 15th and a Hermes. buy a quality I2S cable as well as 2 quality BNC digital cables. Plug your AES/EBU cable into the Hermes. i2s from Hermes to Venus 15th. Then clock sync the Hermes to the Venus. This will take advantage of the OCXO clock on the Venus from your CD transport. It will be more than you planned to spend but you will be done for a looooog time.

The USA dealer that sells with a small discount in the USA is @audioman58

@sealegs   Any answer to that would be pure speculation on my part. I only suggested the Hermes because with AES/EBU into Venus 15th the Transport clock would take president. There is a big difference between the Pontus 15th and the Venus 15th. It's possible if you get the Gaia then it may match up better because of the clock in the Gaia being better than the Pontus.
