Question(S) about Avalon speakers..

I know nothing about and have no experience with the Avalon line of speakers.  I will be in the market next year after a move.  I listen mainly to classic Jazz, mainly acoustic, and female vocals.  The Jazz would be towards the time period of the 40s through 60s and the female vocals would be Ella, Dinah Washington, Helen Merrill, Diana Krall and more....actually like the voice of Margo from that "Cowboy" group.

If you have had experience with Avalon I would enjoy hearing your thoughts/experience.  My speakers, since the sixties, have included Magnepan, Thiel, Vandersteen, Martin Logan, and going way back, stacked original Advents.  I have never been into volume, but the old Harry Pearson....aka "Absolute Sound" as in, close to a live performance.  I have gone to live Jazz and classical performances for most of my life,  in Chicago, NYC, the Twin Cities, Madison, Wi., Iowa City, Ia (Hancher), Copenhagen (or Danish Kobenhavn) L.A. and more than I can remember....but live has been much of my "point of reference"....and yes, some of the best live Jazz I have ever heard was at 2 in the morning at a bar in Denmark.  Perhaps not the best venue, but it has always amazed me that classic Jazz is often  more highly valued in other countries than in the U.S.   Not trying to over info you, just what my point of reference has been.

Thanks and have safe and happy holidays.  Not to be a jerk, but the best holiday I ever had was providing and serving a meal to 50 homeless people.  If you want to have a great holiday season...do something very, very good for a person or people you are not related to and do not know....kind of what has been called "the spirit of Christmas".

whatjd
Bought a pair of Avalon Ideas a few years ago after auditioning them against several comparably priced models. Still have them and have never second-guessed my decision. Very natural, realistic and dynamic. Perfect for acoustic jazz and classical, but also sound great for electric blues, pop, etc...   Anything, really.  Avalon has a (relatively) new “reference monitor” line of speakers out now, but I don’t know anything about it.
Another admirer of Avalon.  I think in character they remind me a lot of Audio Physic.  I’m partial to Joseph Audio speakers that would also be worthy of auditioning.  Also Usher, ProAc, YG, and Boenicke would be on my list of viable Avalon alternatives along with others mentioned above.  I’d list Vandy too, but obviously you already know what they’re about.  Lots of great stuff out there — enjoy the search!
avalons are awesome sounding speakers... with extremely well built crafted cabinets

they seemed to hit the scene in the early 90’s established themselves as real deal 'forever' speaker makers

i think the acclaimed jazz artist keith jarrett has avalon eidelons in his home system he uses to evaluate recordings etc etc

they are not very efficient as i recall so like top wilsons, infinitys thiels of the day etc etc they require seriously stout and expensive equipment upstream

Avalon have some amazing sounding speakers. I almost purchased a set a couple of years ago. I forget the model. The dealer was selling  a couple sets of his demo speakers. The problem is their customer service. It is non-existent. They don't answer their phone. If you leave a message they don't call back. It scared me away from the brand. What happens if they need repair? I eventually purchased a pair of Sonus Faber Elipsa SE.  One of the few speakers I have heard that can reproduce the sound of a piano properly.
