Query on RoomTunes Acoustic Panels

I just picked up two pairs of RoomTunes panels, allegedly made by Michael Green Audio, but they're different from the more conventional panels I have - some GIK bass traps, and a few of my own making around 1” mineral wool. But these are very different.

The seller said there was a reflective and an absorptive side, but I sense no difference. Indeed, they seem like they’re mostly empty except for isolated sections - top, middle, and bottom - that might contain fill. I expect I'll have to rip off and replace the old acoustic wrap, but maybe someone can enlighten me if there's something about its design. Some of the stuff on their web site is unconventional, to say the least. I tried to react MGA, but the mail bounced as undeliverable. They may no longer be around. Thanks.

He's still around. The man. Don't know about the company. Had some good ideas, an early adopter of vibration control. The panels I recall were basically OC703 but with one side covered with aluminized paper just like insulation panels, which is what it is. Fiberglass forward it absorbs, paper forward it reflects. However being covered in fabric it probably absorbs about as much either way. Yours may be different, this is just the one I know about, and it was a long time ago. He was making this stuff in the 90's you know....

If you want to get the best use out of them remove the fabric, and cut into triangles for corner tunes. See my system page https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8367 Save two pieces about a foot square, try those at the first reflection points. Figure out what you like first, then cover with a nice open weave fabric like speaker grill material.
