@jaybe...@theo said SACD "DRIVES", not players.  If you start at about 19:50 on the link provided by the OP, Paul clearly states that Marantz is the last manufacturer of the drive and they are going to stop making them.

Mofimadness makes my point of reference. And without SACD players the SACD would only be a remastered redbook disc.

That aside, does anyone think that another manufacturer will pick up the SACD ball and run with it. Like Sony perhaps, since they introduced it in the first place?

PS stated they would be releasing one model a month beginning I think in May, details on their web page
