Powered or unpowered USB?

Would a USB cable from M Scaler to Innuos PhoenixUSB be powered or unpowered? Any harm using powered if not necessary?

If your equipment works without power, tape up the + and - at BOTH ends or the USB can act as an aerial. Power in a USB cable can be very detrimental to the sound.
