Power Conditioner. From Richard Gray for Shunyata Hydra

What sounding difference will I be expecting?
I’ve been using RG 400 Pro for some good 15 years now and loving it. Very musical, rounded, honey sweet and never overly harsh or bright. The highs still there with good amount of micro details and, most of all, extremely reliable.
But, is grass greener on the other side? Ive been looking and curious on Shunyata Hydra and somewhat predicting but would like to hear from others who are/were actually been there, done that. Thanks for reading.

Hey there,
Tbh when I plugged the Hydra (4) into my system it became too bright for my tastes. It did lower the noise floor which was immediately obvious but it also made the system sound bright. Mind you my system is very warm and lush so this was a big surprise to me. Though it’s a warm sound I prefer I’d still say the overall system conveys plenty of detail and transperancy without ever sounding harsh. Anyway, that came as a big surprise to me as I was not expecting to want to sell the Hydra just days after getting it (bought it used of course). So I will be going back to my Belkin Pure AV PF60 which works a lot better than I anticipated. I know I’m in a minority opinion because the Hydra seems to have won almost universal praise. Maybe I should try it with a different power cord? It came with a 20amp Furutech Alpha Nano Power Supply Cable. Any thoughts would be welcome!
My system:  Muzishare x7 Kt88 tube amp + Monarchy Audio NM24 tube DAC with vintage 12” Tannoy Cheviot’s wired with Kimber Kable 8tc and ps audio power cords)

cheers,
Esteban
Also a 400 Pro owner for 15 years. Yesterday ordered a Hydra 6 from The Music Room. I have 2 rigs though, ergo not for a replacement.

@nasaman - what did you end up doing?
nasamanI have owned my 400 Pro for 15 years as well. Fine conditioner at its price on the used market. Does not steal current from one's system (very important). If considering a Shunyata, check out V-Ray.IsoTek is very fine for an upgrade as well.
Happy Listening!

Been using a Hydra 8 for 5 years or so. Think it is working fine, music coming out of my speakers sounds good. I’d like to try an IsoTek Aquarius to see if any difference. IsoTek supposed to reduce A/C noise to ZERO! Don’t know if Hydra is suppressing noise to same degree. Price is right too.
