Piano high notes very bright

Ever since I rediscovered my hearing aids as an audio enhancement, I’ve noticed that piano high notes almost sound shrill. Not all recordings, but enough to bother me. Is this a speaker or an amp issue? Or the hearing aids?

Sometimes this is a room issue.  If your room is bright or has strong reflections in just the right spot it can sound shrill or distorted at certain volume levels.

Try listening with a couple of pillows around/behind your head.  If the shrillness goes away it's probably a room issue.
