Phono Pre Pairing

Now that I have complete my  new system, I'm bored and am considering adding vinyl capabilities to my old system which  consists of Merlin Millenium VSM's, a Berning ZH 270 and a First Sound Presence Deluxe Mk II.  At this point, I'm just looking for ideas - either specific phono pre's or what to look for to match the system. My bigger, main system doesn't have a tube in it and uses a Moon 810 lp but I simply don't know where to start with the old system and assume that the phono preamps I considered won't be the best matches for the older, tube system. So really just looking for ideas to get the process rolling.  Thoughts?

Just use an outboard phono pre that matches your cartridge. I think that is always the way to go even if your pre has a built-in phono stage.

I would look for a used Audio Research PH8…. You can adjust the model number to fit your budget. ARC phonostages and preamps are what built the company. Alternatively, Conrad Johnson, or VAC. Yes, add tubes.

I don’t think you need to worry that your system is older.
