Not even remotely close. Stay with the Oracle, an SME V would be amazing.
Oracle Delphi MK1 or VPI Prime????
Greetings!!!
I curently own a Oracle Delphi MK1 with Magnepan Unitrac ( serviced a year ago with oracle kit), I recently started thinking on sending it to Oracle audio for a new motor and upgrade my tonearm ( I was thinking on SME or Rega tonearm), between those two would cost me around $3,000. I also been looking at VPI Prime, I seen some B stock from 3,500 to 5,500 on vpi website. My question is,
Is really worth it spend 3k on a 40+ year old turntable or should I go with something newer like VPI?
I been recently upgrading my stereo system, couple days ago I turned my turntable, rpm was slightly off, I know paps motor are notorious for going bad. I adjusted the RPM and now its fine. but who knows for how long my motor will work.
Any information/advice that you could provide I will apreciate!
Happy Holidays!
Ed
Greetings @erivera1990 I’m a big fan of Oracle TT’s as you know. I have had the Oracle Delphi TT in my system for over 40 years. I now have the MK VI as my main TT. It is a better sounding TT than my ClearAudio Master Solution. Putting a new motor on the TT will be a big improvement. A new arm will be icing on the cake. I think VPI makes great TT but I feel Oracle is better. Have a great holiday and stick with Oracle, a great TT. Joe Nies
