Optimal Feet for Meridian 857 RM

Hi Fellow Audiophiles,

I recently got Meridian 857 RM power amplifier. This is a rack-mount version of the Reference Two Channel Power Amplifier 857.

The problem is that the RM version has no feet and I don't want to get a rack for it.

There are no functional differences between RM and Standard version except the feet, which are absent in the RM.

May I ask your advise on which feet to use? The amplifier weight is 35 kg (78 lb).

Thank you in advance.

Hello.

What are your impressions of the Meridian 857?

Curious also to know what speakers you are using and brand/model amp you replaced?

Thanks.

Tony

Hello, @tzordich ,

The amplifier is still warming up, so, it's hard to be completely adequate. But so far, I can see much more details and effortlessness.

I used to drive my old good Arcam Delta 290, which is now working as a pre-amp. Not the best option, but still.

Speakers are Dynaudio Confidence 30. With this combination, my only complain is not enough bass. Maybe I do need to get a subwoofer. Confidence 30 are great speakers, which have everything but a strong bass.

Long story short: I think that Meridian 857 is a great option, It's made very well without cutting edges.

These look nice and this company does all their own in-house woodwork, sheet metal, and machining. Yes, a bit pricey but excellent quality. I have a set of their speakers and would love these feet for my components if I could afford them.

Of course, there are cheaper products but...

Hi @easystreamer , thanks for the suggestion. Well, if we were talking about a high-end turntable, this would make sense, but spending almost $2000 for a set of feet for an amplifier is unreasonable. By the way, the producer positions these feet as feet for turntable.

I already ordered a set of original feet for Meridian 857. I think that Meridian's Engineers know what they do and what's an adequate solution.

Once again, thank you very much for the advise.

@atovstolis that pricing was for a set of four, not each. I would never suggest $2k for feet LOL! But they support up to 120 lbs, so whether a turntable or amp, they perform a similar function. Glad you got your feet squared away.

Hi @easystreamer, my bad,,, I thought this was the price for one, Then this is another matter. Still expensive, but doesn't look totally off.

By the way, I still didn't get a quote from Meridian, so I might consider either IsoAcoustics or FernAndRoby.

Thank you very much!

Oh, another footer solution I have used in the past for speakers and components is from Eden Sound Audio (https://edensoundaudio.com/shop/category/terrastone-footers/terracone/).

If your Meridian has threaded holes on the bottom plate, you can get proper threaded posts to make a perfect OEM-type install. Eden Sound will work with you to figure out which threaded post you need. Anyway, another good solution, albeit maybe pricey too.
