I’m thinking about buying Mark Levinson 23 to replace quicksilver 90 in my rig that I’ve just started to put back together again after years in storage. Audible illusions 3 preamp.  Ohm Walsh 2 speakers. Anyone with experience with the ML 23 think this would be match? Thanks

A Mark Levinson I've actually heard! Its a great match if you're into that that hifi kind of sound. Coming from the Audible Illusions though you may be doing some head-scratching trying to figure out why its so hard to find the ML doing anything technically wrong, and yet you just don't want to listen to it.

I have one record in my collection. First time playing wow, what a fantastic recording! That feeling lasted for like maybe a minute. By the end of the side I was sitting there flummoxed unable to figure out why on earth this wonderful female singer, seemingly beautifully recorded, so utterly failed to move me. Haven't played it in years. Keep it around as a reference. Because when I went searching the record jacket for clues there it was: recorded on a Mark Levinson board with all Mark Levinson electronics.

Live and learn.

Nice pre, one of the best tube pre’s around, they eat tubes though, AI run them very hard they need replacing often, my friend does his every thousand hours or so, he says he can hear the difference for the better when it’s done.
Your Ohm’s are a 4ohm speaker and will get better bass from the ML as it will drive and control them better, the mids and highs of the ML are very good also, but hang on to your Quicksilver 90’s for a while just in case, you "may" emphasize "may" have a preference for them in the mids and highs.

Cheers George

The tubes in my Modulus3, 3A and 3B all lasted between 2,000 and 3,000 hours. Yes, AI runs the tubes hard, but if you buy the factory specified tubes, you will get the tube life I got out of them.  It’s when you buy tubes other than what AI recommends that can get you in trouble.  I ran the Modulus series from 1992 to 2015. I would still own the 3B if it wasn’t for those stepped volume controls which made the music too loud or too soft for the amount of level the preamp put out.
