No sound from Mack !!!

Hi
I have Mcintosh C-26.....Mcintosh 7100, Platinum audio monitors.  MY problem is when i connect the speaker wires to the (C26) main/remote on the back i get nothing......i then connect to the (back) of the 7100 and i get sound .....any idea as to what the problem might be?

Sounds like the C26 may be faulty.

Bad speaker switch on the C26. In the days before garden-hose gauge speaker wire, running speaker wire back to the preamp for speaker switching convenience wasn't unusual. Neither was those switches failing over time due to the current loads involved, or simply a mechanical failure of the switch.
