New dvd players without the chroma bug?

Sorry to show my ignorance, but what is a "chroma bug"? Thanks in advance, fellow A'goners!

Not into this myself, but I hear the new denon DVD/DVD-A players fix this.

Wait for a player with the new Faroudja chip... they are only now starting to hit the street...

See the "secrets of home theatre" site for complete info on which players have it and which don't. Panasonic has a player that is $230 that has the Fafoudja chip. It is mentioned in the progressive-scan shootout results at the site.

While the article given previously is good, the information may no longer be accurate. My new Denon DVD-2800 does not exhibit the chroma bug, and according to their literature the decoder used is not the one listed for the unit tested in the article. Your best bet would be to get (buy/rent) a disc & go test the ones you are interested in. As pointed out in the article, Toy Story seems to really show the problem. I have watched Toy Story with my DVD2800 and could not see the problems described.
