Network Switches

Srajan still holds that using his Apple iMac as the source betters any separate server up until you get into Taiko territory. Using the LHY, Audirvana, Singxer and better USB cables is about all you need. YMMV.

I don't stream so don't get all flamey.

I don't know if this has been posted yet but there's a person over in Germany who has this video on YouTube on how to get the most out of a network switch device and for most DIYers, it looks easy enough to do.

The Cisco Meraki originally went for over $1k but you can get them on eBay for about $100. HIs mods are worth a look:

He never hears a difference and is predisposed to find such an outcome. He is not, and does not care to be, a careful listener passionate about sonic nuance. Realism, natural tonality and the like elude his sensibilities and gifting.   He is a tech guy not connected to these other realities.  Just understand that when reading his comments
A nice example of expectation bias hiding behind an agenda. It's like claiming a moral high ground from which to preach down to.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I remembered this from Clones Audio.

FunJoe's switches have been out for quite a while and may be worth a look. He has two versions: one with 24 ports, a Femto clock and upgraded LPS and the other is an 8 port unit with (I think) just the Femto clock.

if a clay pigeon were sentient, this is how it must feel before it hears the word, PULL!
@jason_k2017,
I can grasp lots of things, thank you, I do so by keeping an open mind.
Even at my ripe old age of 65 my eyes can still see the difference between 1080 and 4K TV on a decent set up (that was one bad analogy, by the way).

All the best,

@jnorris20025, Almarg is the last person here who you'd want to accuse of spewing techno-babble.

@jason_k2017, are you suggesting that what you're hearing is exactly as it was encoded? That your DAC is perfect?

All the best,

Things can always be more faithfully reproduced. You won't see the endgame for most faithfully reproduced in our lifetimes.

It appears that some posters here don’t know the difference between optimal sound vs any sound.
I don't think that could be better said. +1

Nothing like a rebuttal full of invective and bile. Remember to always insult with your rejoinder as it aids in your position.

@allane, keep in mind that there are no 1s and 0s. Would it be so simple if the simplified, textbook explanation were true. In the real world, the 1s and 0s are electrically represented and noise is a great big factor in its distortion.

Though this link deals with USB transmission, the thinking behind it applies to all transmitted data: https://6moons.com/audioreviews2/audiocadabra/1.html

Just the first two pages are all you need to read to get an idea to work with. And, yes, you can spend too much on better gear, but you can also spend too little.
