My Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable died...what to do?

This is the 2nd time in a couple of months that my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable won't turn when I turn it on. The platter sits still.

I unplugged it, lifted the platter and re-set the rubber band, waited a while, plugged it back in, and its worked since then.

Now, dead, again.

It's about 9 years old. Should have a lot of life. It's making no sound.

I'm looking for advice/experience. thank you.

I'd have to pay a repair shop to put the motor in, and we have an official Pro-Ject repair ctr. in my city.

Really? Why so?

I've been always thinking that cleaning fixing motor is a lot more sophisticated than just placing a new one in.

First, try spinning it manually and see if you can play the record smooth as the motor does while listening to your favorite tunes. It's great experience everyone should try!
