Mixing eras

Wanted to get some opinions on integrating new speakers with 90’s hifi gear. Currently with McCormack DNA-1 with vandersteen 3’s. I love the combo. However they just are too bulky for the room they are in and the boss wants a smaller speaker. Was thinking about KEF R3 meta and the KC92 sub. Maybe I’m over thinking it but 30 year difference in the amp and speakers has given me pause. Also wondering if I am stepping up or down in terms of sound and quality. Probably over thinking all of this but figured I would get some opinions from you kind folks. If not the KEFs any suggestions on a more age appropriate, but  smaller footprint speakers? Thanks so much

Yes no issue whatsoever with an older amp and no speakers and your Mcormack is a very capable amp.

Many moons ago I owned those Vandersteens. Spendors have a similar sound. This Spendor has a small footprint and you don’t need stands.

Currently listening to my 2023 Cornwall 4 with a 50 yo Sansui AU 9500 and it’s got me re thinking my high tech 8k integrated. I say mix away!
