Metrum Acoustics closed?

I just saw on Metrum Acoustics website they closed shop.  Anyone have any news about that?  I tried a search.

Thanks,

Jim

No updates but I found that out a few weeks back..... two days after I had bought a Metrum Onyx dac........
Great timing on my part.

One assumes the pandemic did not help.
Well sounds like some internal strife the website makes it sound like the company founder screwed them over and started his own company using their designs.

Cees Rujtenberg founded Metrum and started his own company, Sonnet Digital Audio. He was under an agreement to not use the same designs (he designed them) and came up with something new and better sounding. At least that is what I've read.

He invented entirely new DACs built on what look like small circuit boards that mount perpendicularly to the main board. And he did it all at a lower cost than his original designs and they are reported to even sound better.

Sounds like sour grapes from the guys who didn't part amicably with him.

All the best,
Nonoise
Thanks for the info.  I have the Metrum Onyx and couldn't be happier with it.  Hopefully they come back to the market with a strong line-up.
According to their latest updated website, Metrum Acoustics is reopening in August with a new lineup of equipment and full support for all past Metrum Acoustics products.   https://metrumacoustics.com/

Jeez
This is not really the place for rumours and hearsay, well maybe it is come to think of it but I digress.....

I have to say I am very happy with the SQ from my Onyx, it handily beat out a MHDT Orchid in my system.

But you know its all about system synergy.

As always YMMV.....
