Marantz SA11 S2 "no Disc" "Cant read disc" errors not happy

I am getting random no disc errors on my player.  Some CDS it plays no problem, some it plays and then it does not and some it just does not play at all anymore.  Anybody else experience this.  I had it in to a technician and he aligned to laser and cleaned it.  no luck.

I've had this happen on several CDP's (but not my Marantz - yet anyway). Each time the problem was resolved by putting in a new laser. Perhaps they lose resolving power with age, not just die. (?)

Yep, 2009 build, time for a laser, if your mechanical and have very basic electronic knowledge you can do these your self in 1 or 2hrs (expert 30min to1hr)

This is your laser HOP-1200W-B

You could go genuine Marantz for much more, but I’ve never had problems with the Chinese ones

Cheers George

I have successfully replaced the laser, and/or the entire transport system on Marantz, McIntosh, and Esoteric players over the years. It's not at all difficult, just be sure to find the easiest way to get to the transport mechanism, be it removing the top, faceplate or both.

Oddly enough, the last one I bought, the entire mechanism was cheaper than just the laser.

Good luck, Regards,
Dan
I went through about four or five HOP1200's before I finally threw in the towel. The SA11 transport is, to put it politely, garbage.

I recently had the same issue with my S2. Take it to a good shop or Marantz authorized repairer. I did (Superscope in west Chicago suburbs). Replaced the entire assembly for less than $200 or so. Works perfectly now. Parts are still available so don't delay. It's way too good of a player not to take care of it imho.

did you finally fix your Esoteric? Check your DV-60 thread.
Happy Listening!
I ended up buying a laser off of ebay and having it installed by a local tech.  Everything is back to normal
