Those lasers weaken with use! The mechanicals are probably good for decades more of service! You can try sourcing a replacement laser assembly. If you can find one it may need alignment after installation. A competent technician would be required. Still, these older players are worth restoring! They can offer fine sound - and don't deserve being thrown into a landfill!
Marantz CD-67 SE - Worth Fixing?
My CD player is on the fritz, a Marantz CD-67 SE, Ken Ishiwata special. It was SOTA 20 years ago.
These days I listen mostly to vinyl and streaming, so it isn't a total disaster, but still. The thing went through a few days of occasional cheeping and burping and now it just flashes "disc" and won't read the TOC. Laser alignment? Motor? I dunno.
So - is it worth fixing? Or buy a new one, maybe an Oppo?
