Magnepan DWM Bass Panel

Last year I heard the Maggie 0.7 speakers with the DWM Bass Panel between the (2). Very nice set up in this configuration. I cannot imagine a different placement?

As a Maggie owner I think your money maybe better spent on a sub as I believe the DWM only goes down to about 35 Hz. I have used a sub with 1.7 and now 3.7i once you lock it in it really fills out the bottom.

@johnto I am currently running my Maggies with an 8" B&W AS608 subwoofer, but I don't think I have dialed it in very well. Maybe there are benefits of using a planar bass panel like the DWM with Maggies vs. a traditional subwoofer? I think the DWM uses a non-adjustable high pass filter to feed the Maggies.

My pleasure. If you want to continue with a dedicated Sub, upgrade to a Martin Logan Grotto. B&W does not manufacture a decent subwoofer. All other B&W floor standers and monitors are excellent!

Not sure how low your 8" sub goes depending on the music you listen to you would probably want one that goes down to about 20 Hz. That's the problem with the DWM too it doesn't go that low.

Try setting the sub at about 50 Hz and settings the volume as low as possible, you don't want any boominess or bass overhang. Keep experimenting until you get it right.

Good point about considering a better subwoofer, which in turn I can also use with my box speakers.

@johnto Yes, I have it setup at around 55 Hz and volume as low as possible to avoid boominess. I used a spectrum analyzer on my iPad to help with the adjustments. I have two listening positions, the sweet spot and the "comfortable" spot, and unfortunately the sweet spot has a null at around 60 Hz, and the comfortable spot is a bit boomy with the sub :(

Go for the panel.

I am running a HSU 15” sub with my LRS and it works quite well for me.
