Magnepan CCR Center Channel Speaker

I'm considering upgrading to the Magnepan CCR Center Channel Speaker and wanted to know if anyone here owns one and what their thoughts are on it.

I currently use a pair of Magnepan MG 20.1's for my main speakers in my Home Theater setup along with a Magnepan CC2 Center Channel speaker which I've had for the past 9 years.

I'm pleased with the performance of the Magnepan CC2 speaker but I'm thinking that it may be time to upgrade the center channel speaker now that I am using the 20.1's. I had originally used the Magnepan MG 3.6R's with my CC2 center channel speaker.

The Magnepan CCR isn't cheap, it sells for $2,995, so I want to make sure that I'm going to gain a significant improvement in my center channel performnace before taking the plunge and purchasing the CCR.

If anyone has any experiences using the CCR in comparison to the CC2, CC3 or even the CC5 I would love to hear your thoughts.

In a discussion with Wendall, trying to get him to spill the beans on a 20.1 replacement (unsuccessfully), he suggested the same thing...
Southernphoenix,

Given a system of that quality, I suggest you check out the tri-center as a potential upgrade path:

I have had a cc1, had 2 cc3s (still have 1)and now have a CCR. I use it in a theater with 3.6s, and 4 x 1.6s (all with Mye Stands). The CCR is vastly better. It is not a little better, but a lot...
Southernphoenix,

I use a CC3 with Magnepan 2.7 mains. The CC2 and CC3 are similar and only go down to 80Hz. I use a subwoofer with my center channel and it improved the CC3 sound greatly. This is the principle behind the CCR: a very good center channel mated to a subwoofer to extend the bass. I'm not saying this setup sounds as good as the CCR but it is very good and it's a considerably cheaper option. Just a suggestion, good luck.
Just an itch or is something really wrong?
Maybe your local dealer can loan you one of the bigger / better / badder from the CC line.
did the 3.6s end up as rears?
