I read the same article and didnot have the impression that the gist was that Maggies are "outdated" at all. I will not put down the ET LFT-VIIIa's, I have heard them and believe they are wonderful speakers, at a great price, but let's get real, they do not kill the Maggie 1.6's at all. I still do not believe that they are as seamless as the 1.6's because of the hybrid nature of the design. But, both are very good and great bargains at their prices. Finally, MG-20.1's only added magnets to the midrange panel, since the MG-20r's had magnets on the bass panels already. The difference between the two speakers is very small and not a revoltion in sound quality. My point being is that even if Magnapan added magnets in the front of the 1.6's/3.6's they would improve the sound slightly which would be good, but the present generation of the 1.6's/3.6's are far from being "outdated".
