Lumin U1 or Bryston Bdp2

Looking at a good streamer, don't have a music library Just for streaming Qbuzz.

Bryston has a terrible interface.  The interface is a significant part of the experience.

For the BRYSTON, just download the RIGELIAN 3rd party app for a nice EZ interface, if you don’t like it’s own.

I dunno about the LUMIN,, but the BRYSTON has a linear power supply already built in.

  • Linear Power Supply – not switching common to computers and other digital music players
  • The BDP2 is powered by a noiseless linear power supply carefully isolated from the digital audio path and AC power circuits

I have the BRYSTON digital player/streamer, and I would also recommend its stablemate killer DAC for a great digital system.

The MM interface certainly is spartan  🐗 and is due for a facelift. I just have the poor mans version (BDP Pi) but this little unit sounds great and it works great as a ROON endpoint as well. The Radio Paradise app also sounds really good and can stream 16/48.  Be sure to try out the RP app if you like internet radio.  I can only imagine how good the BDP 3 sounds.  I hope I can afford one some day. 🤞 🤓

@hiend2 Make sure you gives an update on how things are going with the BDP3.

The BDP 3 has a sound card and the Pi does not but the Pi and the 3 both use the same processor. I would guess that much of the filtering is the same. If I'm not mistaken, the BDP 3 runs the Roon signal through its processor for a better sounding signal where the Pi only acts as a bridge. Anyway, I bought the Pi (not to stream) and I do like the sound in MDP mode however I'm unable to play DSD files in Roon. Does RIGELIAN support DSD mode? Also, I just spoke to Bryston a couple of days ago and they plan to release a vastly improved software update in fall. Admittedly, my understanding of this is limited and I could easily be wrong about a number of things here, so any insights would help me out too.

I used Rigelian with the BDP 3.  It certainly was an improvement over Bipolar Bison (that’s a low bar), and it was free, but far from perfect.  It didn’t recognize about half my library, I had to reboot it several times, and it’s Qobuz integration wasn’t optimal.  All very frustrating and I was much happier after selling off the BDP3.  I am currently very happy with the Melco N 100 and Cambridge Audio CXN 60 playing through my Bryston DAC3.

@mahler123 I've found that I''m reorganizing albums via Playlists in Bipolar Bison (that is funny). This is something I might complete in about five years and I don't know if there's a limit to how many Playlists I'm able to create. Anyway, this may continue to be my best recourse, that is if Rigelian proves to be too good to be true.

Melco makes a great product and I would love owning one of there renderers. Maybe if I can finally finish and sell some sculpture, though the galleries always get 50%.
