LSA Voyager GAN Amplifier

Just got mine last week.  After 24 hours of play all I can say is that this is not your father's class D amplifier.  There is not one thing about its sound that reminds me of the class D gremlins that I do not like.  The low end filled in and now has deep impact, the midrange is the love child of a beautiful tube and clean hybrid amp - just gorgeous.  Highs are very clean and extended. Spatial cues are top notch. My system has had some damn good tube and solid state amps in it before and it has never sounded this good.  I am blown away with the quality of sound coming from class D amplification at this price point.

This 300 wpc amplifier is a real winner.....

Measurements tell a lot, It does not look good to me.

If you have a 4ohm load then it’s going to sound rolled off in the highs, compared to if you have an 8ohm load, then it'll sound hot in the highs

And then there’s the terrible designed balanced input gain and noise difference, rca was fine.

Thanks Andy

Ric when an amp changes it’s rolloff to peaking up like because of load difference, there’s more than just FR involved, it’s a large distortion devatition as well which is not very good, as stated

"Lots of money is left on the table here in many areas from frequency response load dependency to high amount of distortion."

Thanks Andy

With my mods they would be even more the same.....and better.

Ahaha! now the reason for all the angst comes out, someone stepped on someone’s tweaking turf. Love Andy

Sorry, you are acting as if they know anything about sound......they don't.  The small deviations due to filter implementation cannot be heard.

Sorry but you have it wrong, it's not about filter variation, it's about load dependancy distortion. Thanks Andy

You need to understand that the switching noise filter/s gives you the fr vaiations. Where the load dependancey distortions here are comming from the amps output stage, at 4ohms 5khz 10khz 15khz have fast rising distortion after only 10watts!!! .

Thanks Andy

Sorry but you were the one that jumped on timing3435 for presenting the bench tests link on this threads subject amp.  Why don’t you/we stay on topic? Thanks Andy

If they can properly run Scintillas

Not with this kind of rising distortion in the upper mids highs into 4ohms, as with the Scintillas, this distortion will be even worse from 300hz up . Doesn't matter what spin ricevs likes to put on it.

Andy

Apogee Scintilla impedance.

Let face it, this is the only reason you're posting. Love Andy

I’ve found nearly every time, the ones that poohbah measurements are usually the ones that have no idea how to read or understand them.

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t touch a piece of equipment that wasn’t designed and built using tests and measurements Love Andy

abraxalito

Nonsense, ears are enjoyment equipment. If you want tests, use man-made test equipment.

Correct, amps need test and measurements and all the laws of electronics the best applied combination of all three which will make them work at their best, without them you have a serious pile of junk!!

Andy

ASR is a "believe as we do or we kick you off " forum.

Only if you're a scammer that tweaks and asks for money without any tech info on what's being done to the owner's equipment, and how it effects in technical terms the sound and the specs.   Andy

Not just that, if you read a little more about them, caps of the same uF (capacitance) value, also have different inductance, resistance, and leakage current, and they are made as electrolytic’s, plastic’s, or even paper, this is why they sound different, because of all these specs which can be measured! Andy

More: Interesting to me at least. XLR fixed.

Trouble is that fast rising distortion into 4ohms after only 20w!! of power. That will not get fixed easily. And this could be the reason why (it’s a bridged amp). Andy

Quote:

"the fact that there are four amplifiers here, not two. Strange that the company is going after audiophile market yet bridged this amp for higher power."

This is much much better falling distortion into 4ohms all the way up to 200W!!

Reading thru the ARS comments I wonder about Ric’s mods:

As being able to fix the progressivly "rising distortion" above 3khz into 4ohms, that begins with only 20w!!! and just gets worse.

NO CHANCE!!!

It's a bridged amp, they aways suffer at lower impedances, 4ohms and below. Andy

I have already stated several times that my mods to not change the measurements in any way. As I say.....over and over again.....most things that change and improve the sound CANNOT be measured.

Really!! then those types of mods to me then state, they are brewed up in the darkest recesses of Haiti, by certain tribes, with bone through their noses. Andy.

ricevs

I have way more than 2 clients.......5 amps here right now being modded......3 more coming shortly....2 oppo 205s on the way....thank you, thank you, thank you.

This sounds very much like shilling to me.

georgehifi

Just like you say you can see many mods you can do to this amp to take it to another level just by looking at this photo, https://ibb.co/Dr86JY6

And what georgehifi said above, that you said you can miraculously do just by looking at a photo, and seeing many mods to be done to take it to another level.

Sorry but all this just doesn’t smell right to me. Andy

I will still contribute when the time it ripe.

I think what's "ripe", is your claims, in my last post. Andy

We should stop trusting Audio "Science" Review

By saying that, it says we should only trust the tweaker/shillers that say don’t believe the measurments, just trust me, "it sounds better" give me your money and I’ll tweak it.👎👎 so wrong.

Usually the ones that do believe this is the way, have no idea on how to understand/read specs, but they feel the need to be in control so they believe the subjective more than any objective. Andy

You have no concept of "truth" , only your subjective opinion which you are constantly falsely marketing here as "truth". You are selling a religion, for which there is no truth

+1 And that's the truth. Andy

Tube guys don't usually own things like bench distortion analyzers. Andy

About time is done, as this has just been mud slinging and advertising thread for tweaking company. Andy
