LOOKING FOR HARD TO FIND VINTAGE PARTS FOR QUAD II

Every individual or audio company that I have contacted, advertising repair and (or) upgrade services of high end audio components, has always come back to me indicating that my vintage QUAD II monoblocks are virtually unrepairable, due to the fact that no company that manufacturers transformer products, offers drop in replacement transformers (power and output).for vintage QUAD II design. Additionally, QUAD in the UK has not been able to offer any sourcing help. I would have thought that if anyone would know, it certainly would be the manufacturer. I was ready to give up the search forever and try selling my QUAD pair for parts, when I happened to stumble upon a website, written by an individual who apparently had spent several years restoring and upgrading vintage QUAD II.

After reading his blog thoroughly I came across mention of a UK company that he was able to acquire "drop in" replacement transformers for the QUADS.

Expensive?? Somewhat, but when you consider that the product images they sent me showed a transformer mounted to a terminal bottom plate and potted in a shield can.;  - - -  well needless to say, I was beside myself.

I have not yet sent them a purchase order for the replacements I need, but intend to do so right after the first. I was going to hold off writing this entry, but I got to thinking that there might be others out there in my same predicament, so if it will help anyone out there restore their beloved QUADS, I am hereby sharing my find. Perhaps there are others out there that have discovered this. Hopefully, with good results.

GOOD LUCK

The company I am referring to is:
