Looking at Phono Preamps

I currently use a Simaudio Moon 310LP preamp, for a Rega P8 with a Hana ML cart. I've been recommended an Octave EQ2 or a pricer Lab12 Melto2 as good partners for my table and cart.  I don't have any experience with either preamp and was wondering what peoples take were on recommendations.  Thanks for your input.

Whoever thinks the Stellar colors the sound needs a recalibration.  It is one of the most neutral phono stages on the market at any price.  If you buy from PS Audio they offer a return policy too.  That is ridiculous nonsense whoever told you that.  I have a $50K Precision on hand (custodial duty for an overseas friend) and a $28K C-J in my main system for comparison.  I could understand it if someone said they preferred something else.  There are other good ones.

@hoytis The 310LP is a good preamp, and I would be completely satisfied with it, if I could find the 320s LPS to get the most out of it. To answer your question, I’m more curious about what to see if I can get slightly higher resolution.

I'm curious what it is you think you're not getting from the 310LP. An excellent stage, no?

That price is doable and I’ve looked at the Stellar amp. PSA even has some refurbished ones available. I heard they color the sound some and I prefer a neutral sound better. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know what you want to spend, but the PS Audio Stellar is a good bet.  Very versatile.  New they run $3k, used $1.5-$2K.  Once in a while PS Audio run a sale too.
