Linn Selekt dual Organik vs Lumin X1

I have the Linn on demo and will hopefully have the Lumin next week...  has anyone compared these and developed an opinion on SQ pros/cons?  I did some vertical testing to get to this "level", now trying to do some horizontal comparison find the best match for an Air Tight ATM-300 (new release WE300Bs) and DeVore O/96's.  The Linn seems fairly forward and a bit bright, but sounds delicate and has a very dark background...  Hopeful the Lumin will round out the midrange without getting things muddy and retain the delicacy and dark background.  The soundstage on the Linn is good, but not vinyl good...  not as deep or big...  maybe the Lumin will be better?

Any experience with these two in particular would be welcomed!

Just saw this thread, did you make a decision? I had the X1 a few years ago, and now have the Selekt with dual mono cartridges. Both excellent choices, the Lumin being the better value proposition (Lumin players are the best values in audio). Didn’t get to compare them at the same time, or same system, but I would give the edge to the Linn: a more natural sound, better app, and inputs & eARC are nice bonuses. The X1 is not far behind though, and has a wonderful holographic output. If there are other places that you want to improve your system in, I would definitely consider getting the Lumin and applying the savings to somewhere else in the chain.

I bought the Lumin X1.  For my system, the synergy of the very analog sounding Lumin seems a perfect match.  Especially in soundstage reproduction the Lumin really stood out over the Linn for me.  For this system my main objectives are natural, musical sound...  I had tried streaming and listened to an occasional CD, but the main input has been a Well Tempered Verselex with Shelter 501mk3 cart.  Other digital sources just didn't replicate the presence and timing of the turntable, including the Linn.  The Lumin sounded wonderful out of the box, but really came into its own after ~400hrs.  Now my TT et.al. is disconnected and the Lumin's run straight into the Amp...  the LEEDH based volume control on the Lumin is really an excellent feature and eliminates the need to run it through a preamp.

Cool, the X1 is fantastic. It’ll be interesting to see if Lumin ever replaces it.
