Linn LP12 ghost or power issue?

Hi all,

my first post here as I just signed up :-)

I would appreciate any hint for what seems to be an issue.
A few weeks ago I found my old Linn LP12 turned on and although terrified for who knows how long it has been running, I put my mind at ease with the explanation I had forgotten to turn it off.
But today after a power cut at my house, I noticed that once the power came back it turned on by itself.
I tried to reproduce the issue manually myself but no luck
Any idea what can trigger that? seems like the duration of the power cut can make a difference.
And what should I do? use the switch on the socket behind the turntable?
thanks in advance!

My Pioneer and Marantz CD players turn on and play when a power surge happens after an outage! Something to do with the switching circuit.
If it’s a Valhalla unit, it might be a good idea to add the switch or plug it out. My board smoked before failure.
Assuming you're using the Valhalla (or earlier) power supply, then you should definitely use some way of hard-switching the mains connection off when you're not using the table. The transfomerless design results in constant active and heated components on the board even when the motor isn't engaged, which at best lowers the lifespan of the supply.

(I can't speak to the spontaneous power up you're seeing, but that could be something borderline or failing in the circuit.)
OP, your table should not turn on regardless of what power supply you are using if your on/off switch on the table is set to off. The fact that it did turn on, might indicate a few things, one that your power switch is faulty, or two, that you left it in the 'on' position without realizing it. If you have an older power supply, pre Valhalla or Valhalla, the power switch on the top of the table just turns it on and off. If you have a power supply like the Lingo, that same switch also switches between 33 and 45, plus on/off. I would suggest having a Linn tech look at your power on/off switch.
I have a pair of Meitner MTR-101’s in our country cabin system and they do the same thing.  Even when being OFF during the power outage, they will turn on when power returns.  So far, no apparent problems as a result; although I worry a bit.
