Linlai E 6sn7 tubes

I just placed an order for a pair of these for my Aric Audio Motherlode II.  I’ve been chatting with a fellow that runs the E 6sn7 in his Don Sachs pre. He loves them, He says they make his NOS tubes sound thin and lifeless.
It will be a couple weeks until I receive them, and I was curious if anyone out in Agon land has tried these, and what are your impressions?
Thanks in advance,

    Ray

I'll keep visiting the thread and gathering others assessments on the Tube comparisons and options to consider when the system is re-established and in use.

I also like the idea of using these Tube Types with adaptor sockets in place of

ECC 88's on other owned devices.

I am visiting this page as a result of the selection of comparisons that are referring to the E 6SN7 being a comparable match to the KR 6SN7.

I have tube rolled the 6SN7 as a input tube on a 845 Mono Block  Power Amp, out of three vintage tubes, four modern tubes and a 68HC the Black Glass KR was very attractive and the preferred tube.

The E6SN7 is on my radar as a result of favourable comparisons being reported on to the KR Tube.

The earlier reference to 845 Tubes has been well received.

From the Report I would say I am influenced to try a E-6SN7 and give the KR a breather for a 100+ Hours before seeing how the comparison works out in my system.

Until discovering this thread I was set on trying out Linlai 845's as I thought I was finished with input tubes selections on the Power Amp'.

The idea of having the KR and E-6SN7 on board to be used along with the exchanged 845's does seem to be a improved preparation.

This thread has just been discovered by myself and the content is very appealing.

I have a few years ago over the period of approx' 18 months carried out a tube rolling experience on my Power Amp input Valves.

The Dark Glass Ken Rad  VT 231 won over the other options and some of these were other brands VT 231 Tubes.

To find such positive comparisons of a burnt in Linlai Tube in comparison to the KR VT 231 is quite satisfying and one further tube option to be looked into.

I was of the view I was only to be interested in LinLai 845's which are not too commonly discussed for their capabilities.

Hey Ho do I use the 6sn7 as a positive and dive head first into the complete LinLai experience?

@bugredmachine I am not any EE, but do have mostly bespoke built Valve equipment, yours is a good call on a defect possibly to be discovered in the circuit. Whatever might prove to be the cause, as it is seemingly able to cause two Tubes to offer a similar level of interference on either channel, if a fault is found,  it will potentially be a similar condition found on both channels.

Hopefully the E 6SN7 will present as described by others if a circuit fault is found and corrected.

On a different thought pattern, I have a Valve Phonostage, that has been Tube Rolled and has Vintage Mullard E88CC Tubes in use.

I learnt in the recent past, that a socket adaptor can be used to allow for the use of a 6SN7 Tube. I am now thinking a socket adaptor coupled to a offset adaptor as in use by others with oversized Tubes will be a small outlay to enable a extension of the use of the Tube Trialing beyond the Power Amp' and include the Valve Phon' in the trials. The owned selection of 6SN7's inclusive of the 'to be purchased' Linlai 'E', are perfect as Donors. The method to use adaptors will enable the use of KR VT 231 and the Linlai 'E' to be swapped for their positions in the Power Amp and Phon' to see if a configuration is improved over another, I am not able with owned Items able to have both devices coupled with the same Brand Tubes.

Is there more to extract from the already very much enjoyed Power Amp and   Phon', Hmmmm?

A Keyboard Short Cut is the to use ' Control + f5 ' to refresh a web page.

Sorry to hear about the incident with the Tube, I had a Russian 6SN7 equivalent start out as the most likeable addition, and after about 45 minutes become the most distorted and worrying tube ever used, worse than fluff on a Stylus.

I was panicking I had not caused a further damage on the circuit.

The following ia an Extract from Linlai UK Web Pages.

I have a suspicion there is an arrangement in place that gives the distribution Partners a reassurance that there Sales opportunities will not be threatened by a undercut when contacting the Factory Direct.

Maybe Linlai does Screen for a select tube to be sold with a Global Logo.

A cost for the service to Screen, addition of a Global Logo and risks of return are calculated as added costs, that are then passed on to the Buyer. Hence, producing a increased value for the tube, that is a protection toward impacting on sales Partners businesses.

Has GF, been more astute in their screening and selecting of tubes ? Surpassing the Global Standard, to receive the status of being awarded to the Top of the Range Tube extraction.

How does the GF Top Range compare in price to Linlai Global.

From my evaluation of the previous posts from seasoned 6SN7 users, it does seem most likely,  if a tube is received functioning correctly, the method used to source and purchase is not such a concern, any method chosen will give access to a tube that will make a very good impression.

About [LINLAI™ Global] – The official LINLAI™ EXPORT website:

[LINLAI™ Global] is the OFFICIAL overseas arm of LINLAI™ Tube Factory – i.e ‘International Sales & Marketing Division of LINLAI™ Tubes’.

LINLAI™ tube sales to ALL regions outside of ‘mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao’, are directly processed through [LINLAI™ Global].

All LINLAI™ tubes screened, offered and sold through our International Sales & Marketing Division bear the exclusive export logo of [LINLAI™ Global] as shown below.

Such an exclusive use of a unique logo differentiates [Linlai™ Global] tubes from the those sold within the Greater China market (including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao), and they come with quality and service standards matching up to our western peers.

The Uniqueness of [LINLAI™ Global] Tubes:

Tubes bearing [LINLAI™ Global] logo are engineered, produced and carefully screened to exclusively meet western music listeners’ preference:

1) Aim to high degree of faithful reproduction of western music instruments, such as piano, acoustic and electric guitar, acoustic and electric bass / double bass, kick drums etc, which are common in western recordings but not as common in Asian music;

2) Create live-like sound image width and depth, and offer realistic balance across high, mid and bass frequencies, without exaggerating the ultra high frequencies (much of Asian music does focus more ultra high’s and Asian audiophiles are accustomed to such a type of sound).

LINLAI™ Tubes sold to vendors in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau are tuned, produced and screened to meet Asian audiophile’s listening habits and preferences. They bear a different domestic logo – which is written in Chinese language. Such tubes will NOT have warranty from [Linlai™ Global] to buyers from outside of above-mentioned Asian regions.

Linlai™ Factory recommends all overseas buyers to purchase with factory authorized vendors for your region, in order to validate your purchase warranty and avoid unnecessary financial losses.

I am happy to contribute, this thread in itself has proven for myself to be quite valuable.

Do remember the KR's especially the Black Glass is quite a Tube and will be getting more and more difficult to find a close to Factory Spec' replacement.

Earlier reports made it known the Linlai E 6SN7 was a close match to the KR, hence my interest developed.

It would be nice to know where the Linlai shared a comparative audible quality in relation to the NOS Tubes used in the rolling and comparisons.
