Karen’s beautiful voice was like sitting by the fire on a cold winter’s night, and kicking back with your favorite drink, thinking, it just doesn’t get any better than this…
I’m a jazz man. But I grew up in the 60’s and became accustomed to Karen’s voice on AM radio. She was an exceptional musician. I have her music both on cd and vinyl, and still listen to it for a walk down memory lane. The greatest music was during the 60’s and 70’s, because these were the days of HITS! Soul, Rock, every week there was a new hit coming from someone. And you knew it was a hit as soon as you heard it. From 1963 to 1980 there was hit music to be had. We thought it would always be that way. But one day the music industry would change and it all came to an end.
But still, I’m happy to have experienced Karen Carpenter during her prime, for she was truly blessed, and we all were blessed to experience her music. I Won’t Last A Day Without You, I’ve Only Just Begun, pure classics forever!
