Issue with the Arm on my Rega P1 Turntable

I bought a new Rega P1 recently. It has an adjustable weight on the back. I set it where the instructions advised, all the way up to the end of the threads nearest the top of the arm).

After playing it for a week or so, the arm started to pull a bit away from the center of the plate. So I readjusted the weight and it seemed to work better, just a little bit of pull. I played it a little more and now it's pulling again.

Is this just typical? Nothing to be concerned about? It certainly makes placing the needle on the vinyl a lot more difficult.

You need to reread the set up in the owners manual... Sounds like you do not have the anti skate set properly.

Check the setting of the Bias Adjustment Slider. Set at 2 or less.

Hmmm, I did set it properly (at 1.5) but everytime I reset, and it pulls less, it eventually goes back.

Try setting the bias slider at 0.... See if that solves your problem. Also make sure the counterweight is all the forward toward the arm pivot

I assume you have the TT set-up level. To check place a small level on the platter. Check for level front to back, and side to side.
