Innuos Zenith MK3/ Roon

I have an Innous Zenith MK3 connected to a Mearson DAC and am using a Hegel H160 as an Amp.  I don't care for the Ipeng app.  I am interest in using roon with this system.  I downloaded the roon App. 14 day trial onto my Computer.  Roon works fine with the Computer.  I would like to use roon with the Innuos.  Roon does not seem to recognize the device even after installing the Roon App. onto the IPad and following all of the instructions.  Does this mean the Innuos is not compatible?  Do I  need to purchase the Roon Nucleus + to get it to work with my current setup?  If so how does the Nucleus integrate into my system?

I bought a zen mini mkiii recently and tried it as a Roon Core, but Roon auto-down sampled without a way that I could find to stop it doing this. In the end I reverted to the Innuos OS and Sense, which is great, sounds very nice.

Having just completed a Roon trial, I can confirm that the SQ is better from my Zenith Mk3 (v2.2.3) than when Roon is enabled.  This was running with the Zenith as the Roon Core.

However, what did tempt me to persist with the Roon was the provision of DSP.  We all like to think that our perfectly balanced systems should sound perfect with every recording, but of course that's not true.  Even the best system in the best room occasionally requires a little equalization.  The parametric equalization is pretty good - though detail and transparency does suffer.

I had additionally been suffering sibilance, so tried buying a MiniDSP UMIK-1 microphone and generate a convolution setting using REW.  It didn't help really, and just seemed to cause excessive clipping with some tracks, unless I applied a -6db attenuation - which for every other track just resulted in much lowered output.

Roon does offer many features, though most to me seemed excessive.

My lesson?  Innuos's OS is simpler, has a purer path and sound quality, and has enough features to allow easy music selection.   And it's free.  If they could include a simple parametric equalisation option that doesn't impact SQ then it would be perfect.

Thank you all for your responses. Sdl492 U are correct Innous Sense is much better than Ipeng.  On first listen I think I like it better than Roon and it is free.  Will spend some more time listening before making a final decision.  Thxs.
Try rebooting the computer and/or powering off and on the DAC.  I am also on my trial and I had the same problem with my DAC on Friday.  This worked for me.
If you don't like iPeng, why don't you try the new Innuos 2.0 operating system on your Innuos Zenith? The software upgrade is free and the sound quality exceeds what can be obtained using Roon.
I use Roon for my Zen Mk 3 and my PC without issue- no need for a Nucleus.
I have no experience with anything MAC, unfortunately. Though I did have issues using Google Chrome when trying to set up the Roon/Innuos.
I had to use MS Edge to get it to connect. I think I added some extensions that interfered with Roon. In any case, I think you might need to examine whether your IPad  has any configuration issues that might cause it not to work properly.-
Better yet, either Google for the issue, or look at the Innuos forum.
