Innuos firmware update

For several years now I have used a Bluesound 2I For streaming audio with deezer. I have been very pleased with the sound. My Innuos Mini Mk III has not been able to use my Deezer streaming service for years. I complained years ago.  I love the quality of flac, and the ease of use of the Deezer interface. Because Innuos could not use this service, I purchased a Bluesound 2i  at the same time as my integrated amp. For years I used the Bluesound. I seldom used the Innuos except to build my CD library and Critcal listening to CDs from the hard drive. Bluesound makes a good product.

The last firmware update I got from Innous was fantastic! It now includes Deezer, and now I have everything in one package. I am used to streaming various music because of the wide selection to pick from. I am totally impressed by the Innous streamer. I have found the stereo separation to be better, the mid and high frequency more accurate and detailed. The lows are robust and accurate. A tuba sounds majestic in Orchestra music. I am hearing background instruments I never heard before from the Bluesound. Excellent job Innuos!  It's been a long time waiting. Both units go through a Shitt Byfrost DAC. When did this upgrade happen?  Also, this opened my eyes on what is possible with a firmware update!

I recently upgraded my USB cable on my Zenith from a Transparent to a Wireworld Platinum OCC silver. This was close to a full component upgrade in improvement. Really shocked me. I had similar experiences with my old SPDIF streamer and cables. I plan to upgrade my Ethernet to a similar cable as budget allows.

@zlone - I am currently using Revelation Audio Labs digital cables which came recommended from a dealer who apparently spent a lot of time testing various digital cables. I had no reference point on them, until I switched out and replaced a the standard Ethernet cable that came with a Gold Note streamer/Dac with the Revelation Labs Ethernet cable.

I immediately perceived an improvement, which mildly surprised me.

What digital cables are you using? Or more broadly recommend?

Great story, streamers definitely matter. You may also benefit from a good digital cable, I have been continually surprised how much difference this can make.

@pcrhkr - That’s awesome you’ve had that experience with your Innuos streamer. I had a similar epiphany when finally upgraded my firmware to a recently released version. I hadn’t updated firmware since I purchased the streamer three years ago.

The improvement in sound quality was mind blowing. I’ve been curious about other streamers such as the Grimm and Antipodes, but reckon I’ve got a good thing with my Zenith mkiii.
