Impressions from Capital Audio Fest

Opening up a thread for people to share their impressions. I am particularly interested in the Triangle Arts Metis speakers… But that’s just me. Please post your impressions here.

Hi Peter I thought Triangle Art sounded quite good they were playing some goofy sounding whimsical percussion music. As I said to my friend the music suits this silly blinged out room but damn it sounds good.

I was with a friend that was very interested in these speakers, so we had a private after-hours demo for about a half hour and listened to a number of different types of music.

I am generally not much of a fan of horn speakers, so keep that in mind.

The Triangle Art speakers sounded very nice on many music genres, particularly instrumental jazz and classical. They did ok with male vocals, but I really didn't like the way they handled female vocals. The voices sounded very unnatural to me. I don't really know how to describe it, but they sounded kind of honky on this material.

Deep bass was not as tight and natural as I like either, but this could easily have been the acoustics of the room.

My friend decided to pass on these, even though these were one of the speakers he was strongly considering (I think based on reviews) before attending the show.

CAF Standouts:

Odyssey Audio top of the line floor standers driven by Stratos mono blocks. Klaus’ room was full of plants and e-candles to set the mood.

MBL room - The performance is in your room

Focal Grand Utopia Evo - They played a Yellow track that sounded awesome.

9 ft tall Soundlabs driven by LTA amps - I heard some great jazz there.
