Import duties are happening
Today I received a package from the Netherlands which was drop shipped to me. Custom duties needed to be paid. The UPS driver gave me the choice of writing a check made out to UPS or going on-line and paying which would have lead to the delivery happening tomorrow. Well since I am going to be gone for a few days wrote the check. I had no clue custom duties were in play and after calling the distributor… he was shocked at the notice of a custom duty. And immediately offered to reimburse. So no issue there. Now getting documentation from UPS required jumping through hoops and barking like a dog.
Caveat Emptor going forward.

@hbarrel what was the declared value of the item and what were the Customs Duties? |
@rsf507 Custom duties were 10.5% of the declared value. I do not care to share the declared value. |
I recently bought two quads of "gently used" 6sn7s from PCX. Before I closed the deal I exchanged some emails with them and they told me no tariffs on stuff under a certain value. (I think $850?) But there was a charge when my credit card bill came; it wasn't an arm and a leg, and it wasn't from PCX so I guess it must have been "import duties." I paid the bill and didn't follow up with anyone on it, but I'll be careful what I order from now on. |
