One thing about seasons...
I purchased a vintage Sansui amplifier Au-7700 some years ago... I love it very much...
I pay for a catalytics replacement etc...
It works very well for the last 5 years... And it work well now...
But I hate summer... :)
In the winter the temperature here in my room is more stable and dryer...
In the summer the amplifier may be whimsical, I lost sometimes( 3 or 4 times in the season) one of the channel, and I worked frantically then all the buttons many times, all return to normal... In winter this almost never happened ( one time)...Moist mostly work to degrade contacts...
Vintage was the way to go for me because of low cost ratio/ quality sound...Big way! This Sansui sound like the best of tubes with the best of S.S.
No contemporary amplifier will give all that for 5 years for 250 dollars including the cleaning catalytics...
It is 50 bucks for each year...One dollars a week...I am glad even if I will lost it one day I dont know when....This Sansui is really a sound legend...With all my tweaks in the audio system, I note no limitations or defects at all with this amplifier, only constant improvement with all tweaks...I even bought another Sansui, but it is another story...
