how do i turn off auto-mute on my stereo? JVC rx-6000v

From the manual............
3. Press MULTI CURSOR < / > to switch the FM reception to “AUTO MUTING” or “MONO
AUTO MUTING: When a program is broadcasted in stereo, you will hear stereo sound; when in monaural, you will hear monaural sounds. This mode is also useful to suppress static noise between stations. The AUTO MUTING indicator lights up on the display.

I assume you are dialed into a FM stereo broadcast?

@motoraway thanks. I just tried it, but to get off of FM muting, you have to switch to mono. When i do that, my radio station turns to static. 

Any other suggestions?

Switch to a different input source?

thanks for the PDF. Im going to do some reading. Thanks so much for your help; i love the stereo, but when i bought it, i was unable to do unmuted FM radio.

Do you have an antenna on the receiver? Many receivers and separate tuners will go into mute if the signal is too low.

i actually don't...

so if i connect an antenna, it may switch off of muting?

Yes. Even a simple wire dipole may suffice.
