@thriftyaudio Who did you buy your A6 from? My A8 had an issue with it's Samsung M.2 NVMe drive. I purchased my A8 from Upscale Audio, they were very helpful and took my A8 back and sent a new one. The new one had the same issue in that the SSD drive would get corrupted and failed. After some research I discovered that the Samsung 970 EVO Plus drive I was using needed a firmware upgrade. I performed the upgrade on the drive by mounting it in my computer and using Samsung's dashboard tool. It's been rock steady ever since. In my research I found that the Western Digital Black SX850X NVMe drives and a Scandisk model also had issues and needed firmware upgrades. The two Samsung 990 PRO 4TB drives in my A10 had been performing flawlessly.
HiFi Rose RS150B vs. Eversolo DMP-A10
I have an Eversolo DMP-A8 that I just moved to a system in a second home, so now I need to replace the streamer/DAC in my primary system. I started with a Cary Audio DMS 550, then replaced it with the DMP-A8, with a linear power supply upgrade, now thinking about going with the RS150B or the new DMP-A10. Any thoughts about the two? The streamer/DAC will be connecting to my Accuphase E-4000 integrated. The internal storage of the streamer is important to me as it houses my main music library - ripped SACD's so mainly all DSD files.

@josephp732 I purchased it from Summit. At first he was working with me to get a replacement, but then his inventory was depleted so he was willing to give me credit towards an A6 Master (A8 was not yet released). Then when Eversolo offered to take the unit back to China he dropped out of the discussion. I tried three different SSD cards. The 1st one was not Samsung, but a relatively known brand. The SSD card worked with two other computers, just not the A6. Then I tried one, then another Samsung (different models) from Best Buy. Both worked in my two other computers but not the A6. The final SSD I also tried in a friend's Aurender and it worked fine there. Something was wrong with the A6. At the time I asked to replace the A6 with a refurbished or new unit. Summit initially stated he was willing, but then backed out of that when Eversolo became more involved. At the end of the day the customer service of both the internet seller (out of Canada) and the manufacturer was poor. There are so many options out there I decided to eliminate them from my choices. I have worked with Upscale Audio a few times and they have been terrific. Unfortunately, I always ended up going a different direction either depending on options or price. I have found TMR to be helpful and with a a tremendous return program. There are a couple of SoCal dealers I also work with that have been outstanding. There are a lot of wonderful dealer and manufacturing options out there. My favorite manufacturers are currently Pass Labs, LTA and Bricasti. A+ with everything. Innuos is decent, but just a notch below. Currently exploring a move from Innuos to Aurender. Still researching. |
@thriftyaudio Thank you for sharing your experience. It's never easy when it's an issue like you described - especially on newly released gear. I do, as probably you do, feel that in general most manufactures and dealers will go out of their way to help problem solve. I have read on many forums about early support issues from Eversolo - usually those experiences are hard for manufacture to recover from and rebuild the consumers trust. I wish you all the best on your journey and let us know what you finally settle on. (Innous and Aurender are great products). |
