You can clean the control if its a slider from the front. You'll need a particular cleaner- DeOxit in the green and black can (available thru Amazon and ebay, link to product below). Reach the nozzle into the slot at the top of the slider in as far as you can easily go. Use as small a squirt as you can manage and then work the slider back and forth. You might need a second shot. Help with noise in ONE speaker

So i finally got around to trying to find the problem with "static" noise in just one speaker. Its REALLY annoying as its not constant but every second or two it comes and goes. So i switched the right and left speakers and still the noise in the same speaker. I got all new interconnects and speaker wire (was doing this anyway) and still, same noise. Turn teh volume up? same noise...turn the volume to zero, same noise. So i lugged a speaker up from the basement and switched it, same noise. If i switch the ohm connection from 8 to 4 to 2, it gets quieter but still there. The amp is a McIntosh MC152 and i really dont want to pack that up and ship it for work but my amateur investigation tells me its an amp left channel issue. Anyone had this happen? Any ideas?
