I have been having a very strange problem with my Nak RX 202 tape deck. When I use the record function on the deck a faint static gets transferred to the tape along with the recording signal. I tried with no input signal to the tape, i.e nothing in the input jacks and just pressed the record button and let it record for 30 sec. But again, when I playback that 30 sec tape, a very faint static could be heard.
I cleaned and de-magged the heads. But no improvement. The sound quality of the recording is good, but can hear the static during quiet passages.
I'm listening to my recently rebuilt RX-505 as I write this response. Something is obviously wrong under the hood of your RX-202. Rather than attempt to fix it yourself, send it to a qualified Nak expert. Believe me, it's worth the investment.
