I just took delivery of the xxx about 10 days ago.I still own the following conditioners: Chang 1000---2 small, older Stealths--Monster avs2000 and the Power Cord Custom Power Block. These all control different items.I have a 61in. HDTV---A projector,a receiver,amps up the wazo---I'm not poor for toys.---When I called AM the guy said he was going to burn mine for 400hrs before shipping.--- Guess they forgot,I got it way soon for that to have taken place. When I called back they (Gary??) said he gave it some kind fast trac burn-in. Anyhow my suggestion is buy 2 older ones. I think my 2 older ones are better than my XXX---Which has been powering something 24/7 for all the time I've had it. |
I reread your post and would add I haven't tried the BPT;but the xxx has 10 outlets,(mine does). Let's see if member Warren chimes in. I believe he got the4k model from Stealth.--- I would like to repeat I'm very dissappointed with my XXX. None of these are piggy-backed to each other---so it's not that. |
Hi I have the Eclipse and it does indeed need mega burn in time. To speed up the process , plug in some electric fans, electric lights etc. drive it as hard as you can within reason. A good investement would be to go to the hardware store and buy a long extension cord , this way you may be able to run other electrical items not normaly within reach.

I compared my Audio Magic Matrix with Matrix power cord to the BPT 2.5 in my 2 channel system (Resolution Audio Opus 21, Paradigm Active speakers). The Matrix if anyone remembers was the top conditioner in the Stealth line before they introduced the Eclipse. Anyway, the Matrix smoked the BPT. It was not even close. For music reporduction, the Audio Magic gear is the way to go, particularly when compared to BPT. |
That's a pretty strong statement, Sammie.
Can you please elaborate? How does the AM "smoke" the BPT, in what areas? I am not refuting what you are saying, but have been considering the purchase of this type of device (BPT, Shunyata Hydra, etc.), and am interested in the opinion of someone with experience in multiple devices such as yourself.

Well, all I can give you is a layman's description, but suffice it to say, the Audio Magic simply sounds more musical. The teble, bass, soundstage are all improved. Also, the AM reduces the digital edginess, so the music just flows. My buddy who owned the BPT was very skeptical of the AM, simply because the AM is a small, lightweight box and the BPT is a 70 lbs monster, or so it seems. Anyway the thing is just huge. We listened to the BPT first and then switched to the Matrix. I remember him saying, "Wow that thing really does work." Based on what folks are writing about the new Elclipse, it's even better than the Matrix. I'm telling you, this is a no brainer! |

It's a matter of priorities. I'm willing to give up this fantastic conditioner because things didn't work out with the Resolution Audio Opus 21 CDP I was using, so I've sent it back for refund. I've since fallen in love with an Ayre Acoustics CDP and their preamp, which will cost considerably more than the Opus. So, unfortunately, everything has gotta go, even my beloved Matrix. Eventually, when I recover, I'll grab another AM conditioner. |

Sammie, I doubt you'll need to "grab another AM conditioner" for your Ayre products since they are already designed to negate AC problems. Many times, the perceived effectiveness of an AC conditioner is actually an indictment of the components connected to it.
As for the original poster, generally, I wouldn't plug amps into your conditioner - regardless which one you choose. In fact, I think Anthem specifically warns customers NOT to use a line conditioner with some of their products (at least they did with my AVM30 which isn't even an amp).
Frankly, you may want to consider just keeping the Audioprism unless you've identified a problem. Your budget of $1500 may yield a better return elsewhere if you're unhappy with the sound (perhaps room treatments or mods).
As for BPT versus AM, I'd get a trial versus relying on what you read on Audiogon. Nevertheless, it's hard to refute the benefits of balanced power in most applications. |

Anyone else besides Sammie have experience with both the AM and the BPT?
I am seriously considering the purchase of a BPT, as it will one of the final pieces in the puzzle, but now that I see this thread, I am wondering about this AM. Though, I also find it curious that one would sell a product that one feels walks all over one of the more highly regarded components in its category. We all need good AC in this hobby. |
Not familiar with the Audio Magic products, but currently have a BPT-1 and an upgraded CPC. The BPT-1 is OK for some sources, but definitely not for any amps. It's the CPC that has made the biggest improvement. Mine is the 20 amp version with Z-sleeves, FIM outlets, and high current filters on several of the outlets. It does not have any balanced power transformers. Does not seem to be limiting for Plinius or Granite Audio amps, and has done wonders for my system. These CPCs can be customized for specific systems and are much cheaper than the higher BPT or AM models. |
