Help/Advice Choosing SS integrated
I've owned both the Jungson JA88C and JA88D, and their sound matches your description. They are competitive with most of the integrateds mentioned above, and are a fraction of the cost ($400-$800). Only downside is size and heat (JA88D). If your s...
Best $5,000 system for a small apt. in Stockholm
I'm using the Auranote "all-in-one" with the Duevel Planets in a living room setup. Small footprint, simple, modernish styling, and excellent room-filling sounding. Should be possible to assemble for about half your budget.
Small CD player
Eastern Electric CDP is one of the smaller players I've seen.
Tube pre amp with phono stage and remote
Modwright SWLP. Been very impressed with this preamp, especially its phono section.
Analog Noob: I have a few questions
I would recommend a new KAB Technics with at least some of the mods (outboard power supply, arm fluid damper) and one of the plug-and-play KAB cartridges (eg Trackmaster). Along with a used Bellari phono stage, you would have a setup that can comp...
Who was your first
Mingus- Better get hit in your soul.
Duevel Planets
These speakers work great for my current application. They are in a medium sized L-shaped living room (20X17) that is very lively (all wood, glass, leather). Partnered with an Aura Note all-in-one system. Their unusual aesthetics matches well with...
Small integrated
Definitely check out the April Music Aura Note. I use it with Duevel Planets. Very small footprint. Very refined sound. Has a built in CDP, and multiple digital inputs for its internal DAC, which is top quality. Slightly disappointed using analog ...
Looking for turntable for under $1000
Owned a number of TTs under 2K, and the fully KAB modded technics really stands out for value, sound quality, reliability, and ease of use/setup (this is often overlooked by those getting into vinyl who are not very experienced or don't like endle...
Dussun vs Qinpu vs.Jungson vs.Onkyo A-9555 Amps
I have used both a Jungson JA88c and JA88d integrated with Usher CP6371 speakers and found them to be very synergistic, especially the JA88D. Only downsides with the Jungson JA88D are size, weight, and heat (real Class A operation). The JA88C (ren...
"new country" music recomendations please
Check out Freakwater, especially 'Endtime' and 'Springtime'. Not sure why they are not better known. Maybe a little too edgy for most country fans.
Sealed Loudspeakers?
Audio Note AN/K.
I want more from my Rega P5
Have to agree that with the comment that the Dynavector 10x5 and P75 combination is a little lackluster. Used both with a Nottingham Spacedeck. I preferred a more dynamic stage (a Plinius Jarrah)with the 10X5. In your case, a good low output MC (D...
technics 1200 cartridge and preamp choices
You could pick up a used Bellari for $150 and a new KAB Groovemaster for $200. I'm currently using this combination on my KAB modded technics 1200, and would highly recommend it. For what its worth, I've owned Creek, Dynavector, Monolithic, and Pl...
Intergrated Amp with VR4jrs
The Jungson JA88D is worth considering. No tubes, but heavily biased into Class A (does run a bit hot). I generally prefer tubed components, and the Jungson is the only solid state amp I've owned that captures much of the dynamic, rich and spatiou...
