I have had the fortune to own about a dozen different cans at the moment, but I have not heard the super expensive $25+k headphones, but can say most under $10k. I have probably owned 25 different cans over the past 10 years, bought, sold, traded, etc.
Well, my head rig sounds great to me, but it’s about tube rolling & synergy. Having a great source and then a sensation rig can allow your cans to really shine in a way you never thought possible. Growing up in the 80’s I had some electrostatics that had great mid/high detail, but lacked in bass.
After several different rigs, I have settled on the Woo Audio WA5-LE, but with vintage western electric or newer takasuki 300Bs with vintage 1940’s tube fed by a Modwright/Oppo transport (with vintage 1940’s tubes) now sounds sensational with focal utopias or Abyss (modded with moon audio black/blue dragon cables) surpasses many sound systems I have heard at the shows. Enjoy the music.
